I have been using Microsoft Word for many years now. I first began using Word in late middle or early high school. I have only ever really used Word when writing papers. Throughout the years, I've seen my teachers use Word in many different ways. Some examples would be when I have seen teachers create tests/ worksheets via Word and when teachers use Word to format emails and letters to send home. I do not have very much experience with copyright and fair use of materials in an educational environment. I found it very interesting that librarians can make up to three copies of a work incase the original is damaged! Thanks to the fact that I work in an elementary classroom, I was aware that you can make copies of pages or excerpts to distribute to the class if it is from the original work, but not from workbooks. I believe that there is a plethora of factors that influence the use of technology by both teachers and students. From a teachers’ perspective, I believe that technology use is influenced by the goal of engaging students on a level that is preferable to the students. I also believe that teachers use technology in some instances in order to add a level of fun to a lesson, such as by incorporating a game or video. I believe that students are influenced to use technology because they are extremely comfortable with technology. Students are also influenced to use technology in the classroom by the vast amount of online resources and learning tools readily available. According to the ISTE standards listed on the http://www.itse.org website, there are many standards that educators should be striving for in the classroom. One standard that I consider meaningful would be the “Learner” standard. I find this standa...
I decided to critique the 3RC lesson plan that I previously discussed in my blog using the Dynamic Instructional Design Model. I will be evaluating the lesson plan from the perspective of a fourth grade teacher. At the first step, Know Your Learners, I can predict that the lesson plan is appropriate for fourth graders. As I work in fourth grade, I know that this lesson relates to what they already know and there is a video and hands-on activity, thus catering to many learning styles. For step two, Outline the Objectives, this lesson plan has 5 learning objectives clearly labeled at the beginning of the plan. Step three, Establish the Learning Environment is not directly defined in the lesson plan, but within the sub-activity, there are more explicit instructions should you choose to do the extra activity. Step four, Identify Teaching and Learning Strategies, is met throughout the lesson plan. There are activities, videos, and worksheets to choose from in order to cover a wi...
