I decided to critique the 3RC lesson plan that I previously
discussed in my blog using the Dynamic Instructional Design Model. I will be
evaluating the lesson plan from the perspective of a fourth grade teacher. At
the first step, Know Your Learners, I can predict that the lesson plan is
appropriate for fourth graders. As I work in fourth grade, I know that this
lesson relates to what they already know and there is a video and hands-on
activity, thus catering to many learning styles. For step two, Outline the
Objectives, this lesson plan has 5 learning objectives clearly labeled at the
beginning of the plan. Step three, Establish the Learning Environment is not
directly defined in the lesson plan, but within the sub-activity, there are
more explicit instructions should you choose to do the extra activity. Step
four, Identify Teaching and Learning Strategies, is met throughout the lesson
plan. There are activities, videos, and worksheets to choose from in order to
cover a wide variety of teaching and learning strategies. For the technology
step, the only technology required is to show a video, which I believe is
appropriate for a fourth grade classroom. Finally, for the Evaluate and Revise
step, I would have to teach the lesson in order to see how I can better adapt
the lesson plan to make it more successful. There is lots of room for change,
so I believe that this lesson plan is absolutely up to the DID standards.

In order to meet the levels of Bloom’s Taxonomy I could
create a PowerPoint presentation for a class outlining a simple science lesson
plan. For the remember level, I could have a “skill check” or “recall” slide
which requires students to remember what they have learned so far. I would
explain concepts on a deeper level within the lesson that require more
information to be truly understood by the learners. I also could add a
worksheet for students to fill out as I present the power point in order the
reach the apply level. At the analyze level, I could have students work in
small groups to complete a sort of experiment pertaining to the lesson. For the
evaluate level, learners can have a class discussion regarding the experiment.
Finally, at the create level, I can assign students to make a power point of
their own relating to the concept.
I actually thoroughly enjoyed the WebQuest assignment. While
I do not typically consider myself very creative or technologically savvy, I
feel as though Wix was a great, easy to use tool that made website creation
fun. I liked how simple Wix made my website creation. I started with a premade
template; however, and found that removing all of the extra information on the
template was time consuming. I learned how to create a website that outlines a
specific assignment, which I think would be very helpful as a teacher. I think
that next time, I could add more information in order to make the site more
authentic, such as contact information and maybe a class schedule.

Hi, Hannah
ReplyDeleteI enjoy reading your post. You did such a terrific job in explaining how to use PowerPoint to meet the levels of Bloom’s Taxonomy! You provided a great example.
