I undoubtedly consider myself to be a technologically challenged individual. The extent of my technology use in a professional manner is easily summarized at the most basic of levels. I feel comfortable using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and using various online search engines (from Google to online libraries) to search for information and sources. Currently, I am working as a para professional at an elementary school. This experience has provided me the opportunity to observe various educational technologies in practice, such as Schoology. Though I have witnessed countless technologies used in the classroom, I have had very little hands-on experience.
      My primary hope for this class is to become more comfortable with my current technological abilities, as well as expand my knowledge of technology in a professional educational setting. One of the aspects of this class that appeals to me the most is learning how instruction is designed. I find this to be particularly intriguing because I have worked with designing lesson plans in the past; however, the design never included more than a power point to accompany the instruction in terms of technology. The use of incorporating technology into the classroom is imperative now more than ever. I am eager to learn more about how technology can be used in the classroom in order to further engage students and promote learning.
      Taking the learning style quiz was a bit of a shock to me. I have always considered myself to be an active learner, yet I never thought that I was equally an active learner as sensory learner. I find it fascinating that it is recommended for active learners to study in groups, as I have always preferred to study independently. After reading about the specificity within the sensory learning style, I definitely connect to sensors. I consider myself to be a more practical and realistic individual, which correlates with the sensory learning style the most.

          I believe that there is a plethora of factors that influence the use of technology by both teachers and students. From a teachers’ perspective, I believe that technology use is influenced by the goal of engaging students on a level that is preferable to the students. I also believe that teachers use technology in some instances in order to add a level of fun to a lesson, such as by incorporating a game or video. I believe that students are influenced to use technology because they are extremely comfortable with technology. I decided to critique the 3RC lesson plan that I previously discussed in my blog using the Dynamic Instructional Design Model. I will be evaluating the lesson plan from the perspective of a fourth grade teacher. At the first step, Know Your Learners, I can predict that the lesson plan is appropriate for fourth graders. As I work in fourth grade, I know that this lesson relates to what they already know and there is a video and hands-on activity, thus catering to many learning styles. For step two, Outline the Objectives, this lesson plan has 5 learning objectives clearly labeled at the beginning of the plan.
