I absolutely would like to maintain a course website as a teacher. I had so much fun creating my website using Wix this week! I feel as though a website is a very easy and useful way for teachers to keep in touch with students and parents throughout the year. I also think that having a website is useful for students to keep track of assignments and class rules or even important dates. I undoubtedly believe that class websites are worth the trouble. I feel as though if throughout my grade school days my teachers all had websites, keeping track of my schoolwork would have been even easier and better planned. I envision myself using a teacher website to reach my professional goals as an educator. I learned that frequently updating this website would be imperative in order for it to be as successful as possible. I think that one way a website would make my teaching more effective would be that I could have an assignments tab. Under this tab, I would upload papers that I pas...

The school that I chose to look at class ages was Fruit Cove Middle School. I was taken to Ms. Brosofsky-Weaver’s class page. Ms. Weaver has some personal information posted on her page, like a short bio outlining her work experience within the field. Her site also includes a photo, as well as contact information should anyone need to contact her. https://teachers.stjohns.k12.fl.us/brosofsky-weaver-h/ The Digital Divide is known as the gap between people that have access to technology and those who do not. In terms of student success, students that have access to technology are at a higher advantage than those without. Socioeconomic status of families and schools affect the Digital Divide. As a classroom teacher, I may experience students that do not have Internet access at home. I need to keep this in mind in order to ensure that I am only assigning work for students to complete at home that all students have the capability and resources to complete. So fa...

The English Language Arts, or ELA, Standards are but one subsection of the Common Core State Standards in Florida. The ELA Standards currently in place consist of the level at which language is used in a technological society and encompasses technologies and media used for communication. I chose to look at the ELA Standards currently in place for Fourth Grade, as I currently work in a fourth grade classroom. One standard that particularly sticks out to me is LAFS.4.W.2.6, which states, “With some guidance and support from adults, use technology, including the Internet, to produce and publish writing as well as to interact and collaborate with others; demonstrate sufficient command of keyboarding skills to type a minimum of one page in a single sitting.” The reason this standard sticks out to me is because this is a standard practiced on a weekly basis both within my classroom and at home. Some days, during the week, learners use the website, Keyboarding Without Tears, and l...

I have had tons of prior online learning experience. Starting my freshman year of high school, I took an online health course via Florida Virtual School. I continued to take a few courses through FLVS until I graduated. Now, as a Florida State student, I have taken many online courses that have all utilized asynchronous communication between all parties. All of my classes at Florida State, regardless of delivery method, have used a learning management system. During my first few semesters at FSU, all of my courses used Blackboard. Now, all of my courses use the LMS Canvas. Open Educational Resources can best be defined as programs or sources that are available to be used by anyone. Open Educational Resources still have rights, which are the right to retain, reuse, revision, remix, and redistribution. I used the website, www.oercommons.org , in order to find a resource. The website allows you to search for resources by subject, grade level, and more. I found a resour...
