I think that I will use surveys throughout my career as an educator. In an elementary setting, I would probably use surveys if there is ever a science experiment scheduled to be done at home. Learners could add their results into the survey in order to have all of the data neatly submitted to me. I also could create a survey to send out to parents at the beginning, middle, and end of the year to determine their level of satisfaction with my teaching. The parent survey would also end up being an easy way for parents to submit questions to me. I also believe that I will use Excel as a grade book, such that we are working on for Skill Check 4. The main idea of a flipped classroom is that the main information is learned at home and learners practice and enhance their skills while in the classroom. Learners take advantage of readings or online content in order to learn the material. One aspect of a flipped classroom that I find to be extremely beneficial is that learners can go at th...

It is imperative that educators stay up to date with the latest technology trends. As our society progress towards being more technologically advanced, educators must continue to progress in their technological fluency. Ill add a link to a website that I found called Education Week. This website provides weekly updates for educators with a heavy influence on educational technologies. There are quick links to Virtual Education/ Distance Learning, Open Educational Resources, How Digital Materials are Used in Classrooms, and much more! https://www.edweek.org/ew/issues/technology-in-education/index.html I feel very comfortable making a PowerPoint presentation, as I have created them for work and school purposes for many years now. Though originally I struggled creating the Nonlinear PowerPoint, I eventually figured it out and absolutely loved the end result. I really like how the nonlinear style provides the creator with so many possibilities for the end result. I crea...

Assistive and adaptive technologies are technologies, which help individuals with disabilities perform tasks in an easier manner or more independently. Learners with both physical disabilities and learning disabilities are able to use these technologies to better facilitate the learning process. I have had some experience with technologies such as theses in a classroom setting. At the school that I work at, IStation is used in every classroom. For learners that have difficulty reading, the questions, instructions, and other materials are read to the learners in order to aid them with completing their assigned tasks. The Universal Design for Learning principles were created in order to optimize both teaching and learning based off of how people learn. The UDL principles focus on providing multiple methods of engagement, representation, and action/ expression. I believe these principles are important to address the larger issue of usability because the principles pro...

I decided to critique the 3RC lesson plan that I previously discussed in my blog using the Dynamic Instructional Design Model. I will be evaluating the lesson plan from the perspective of a fourth grade teacher. At the first step, Know Your Learners, I can predict that the lesson plan is appropriate for fourth graders. As I work in fourth grade, I know that this lesson relates to what they already know and there is a video and hands-on activity, thus catering to many learning styles. For step two, Outline the Objectives, this lesson plan has 5 learning objectives clearly labeled at the beginning of the plan. Step three, Establish the Learning Environment is not directly defined in the lesson plan, but within the sub-activity, there are more explicit instructions should you choose to do the extra activity. Step four, Identify Teaching and Learning Strategies, is met throughout the lesson plan. There are activities, videos, and worksheets to choose from in order to cover a wi...

I absolutely would like to maintain a course website as a teacher. I had so much fun creating my website using Wix this week! I feel as though a website is a very easy and useful way for teachers to keep in touch with students and parents throughout the year. I also think that having a website is useful for students to keep track of assignments and class rules or even important dates. I undoubtedly believe that class websites are worth the trouble. I feel as though if throughout my grade school days my teachers all had websites, keeping track of my schoolwork would have been even easier and better planned. I envision myself using a teacher website to reach my professional goals as an educator. I learned that frequently updating this website would be imperative in order for it to be as successful as possible. I think that one way a website would make my teaching more effective would be that I could have an assignments tab. Under this tab, I would upload papers that I pas...
